Recollecting my experiences…

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Continuing from where I left……….

Lance and Caron interviewed some more lenders and loan officers. This was done to get a better idea about the entire mortgage loan process. They prepared documentation on the total process so that I could go through it and summarize it. But Brian wanted me to take some more interviews as I was the one to develop the booklet.

I called up some of the nationalized lenders and fixed up appointments. I gathered a lot of information – in fact, I gained much more knowledge through interviews and direct interaction with lenders.

The next big thing was to write about the entire home buying process in a nutshell. As experts say – “It’s easy to write a complex article but hard enough to pen down a simple one”. So, my job was to put down things in the perspective of a beginner such that when he goes through the book, he gets a clear idea about the do’s and don’ts.

My experiences with the Booklet

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

Hi all,

As I have been sharing my experiences of developing the booklet with you all……….we started off with our respective job roles. I set out to research on the entire home buying process, went through several resources that were available at hand.

For the resources that required me to go out of office, I took help from Caron. She interviewed two to three lenders and brokers and got detailed information on how the home buying actually works was all about. But that wasn’t enough. Sam insisted we do some more research……going through books, research papers and talking to some more lenders, and real estate agents too.

Time’s running out. I”ll have to get prepared. My cousin will arrive soon with a cab. So, join you soon after the celebrations are over.

The making of mortgage booklet - your guide to successful home buying

Friday, December 8th, 2006

Hi all,

Continuing from my previous post… As I said that the MF team decided upon bringing something new for all those looking to buy homes – just making things easier for them.

Both Sam and Brian suggested that I start writing the book and they also wanted Lance, Caron and Samantha to help me out. All of us decided to sit together and divide the work so that it would be easier for all of us in giving the best output.

So, it was decided that all of them should come over to my place where we shall discuss on how to proceed. Saturday evening was the choice of all and so they assembled. Lance was eager to help me if I ever got stuck with a financial concept. And, Caron and Samantha suggested that they would help me with whatever information was to be gathered in the making of this book. Finally we decided to begin our work by next Monday itself.

Community join hands to come up with Self-help Booklet

Friday, November 24th, 2006

Hi all!

Remember, in an earlier post I said that Sam from MortgageFit Community had decided to introduce something that could give a good start to beginners in the mortgage industry.

Well, we gave it a thought and discussed with the moderators at the forums – I guess this was important as the moderators are into regular handling of queries and problems faced by common people. Some of them proposed that we come up with a book that could give a detailed knowledge on mortgage. But this did not convince others.

The consensus was - we’ll try to think of something new, something different – something that could really help visitors in their practical situations. After all, how many of the common people we see around us really go through an entire book and then go for home buying or shopping for a mortgage? Hardly do we find such people. I believe it’s important to study the minds of the people and assess their needs just to find out if the people out their at all require such a thing or in words will they actually benefit from it.

Simple things make things simpler and easier

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Hi all,

I have been going through several financial websites, writing on some topic or the other and even answering queries at MortgageFit forums. I find people bothering about the small things that can affect their lives – Not their fault though; what they lack is proper knowledge of all that they come across.

A common issue bothering most people is wrong decisions with their finances. While visiting various forums, I find people suffering due to bad decisions in home buying or getting a mortgage and later on regretting. All such things made me think, there should be some effort from my end to help people get through such troubles.

Around this time, Sam from MortgageFit Community proposed that we come up with something simple and informative for the common people dealing with the mortgage industry. By “informative”, I don’t mean a “vast resource of knowledge”. Rather, it should be something having that basic knowledge thereby giving most people the confidence that can help them make a good start to deal with their finances and debts.

Oops! I’ve got to go. Catch you later guys!!

Miss Jessica’s Lessons on Community Forum Culture - Lesson 1 on Signatures

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Welcome to Miss Jessica’s Classroom on Community Forum Culture

forum culture

Lesson 1: Use your signature with care
We all know that using signatures is a common practice which is widely used by Community members, I use signatures for:-

  1. Promoting products, services.
  2. Introducing new features.
  3. Link to specific interesting pages.

This is very handy as lot of people read and click on it. But we need to think before as to when and where we can use it. Recently I was writing a condolence message to one of our community member. A condolence post with a promotional signature, that is really sick marketing, Isn’t it? We should use our signatures where it sells but should be avoided when the talk is personal and touchy.

Hope all the community boys and girls have learned their first lesson. I will back every week with a new lesson on good forum culture. Till then take care.

Free Tip for the day: Commenting on Jessica’s blog is another good blogging culture :) .
